PN-BESI-TL Launched Social Audit Report – Community Scorecard
Dili, 6 of March 2024 – Timor-Leste’s National Platform of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene organized the activity to launch a social audit report through the community scorecard (CSC), water supply to the rural community in HAK Association Hall.
The objective of Social Audit Report activity through Community Score Card mechanism, water supply to rural community held in Covalima municipality, Tilomar Post Administrative, and 4 villages namely Beiseuk, Casabauk, Lalawa, and Maudemu.
Council President of PNBESITL in her speech said that PNBESITL’s water, sanitation, and hygiene interventions in almost cover all territory of Timor-Leste through the collaboration with its members that words in different municipalities including rural areas’ water, sanitation, and hygiene data and information utilizing by PNBESITL for the advocacy efforts.
PNBESITL’s program is supported by SASCAS to run Social Audit activities in Covalima municipalities, Tilomar Post Administrative, in 4 villages related to rural water systems. This social audit using community score card mechanism that englobe service providers, community including local authorities and leaders to gather informations about community’s access to clean water systems that remains a big issue in their areas. Through the social audit activity, PNBESITL able to identified variaety of problems that Government need to consider particularly to annual Government Budget Allocation to water, sanitation, and hygiene sector in Timor-Leste.
SASCAS representative in the intervention said that the Government recognizes Social Audit as an instrument to gain recommendations from the community. Civil Society always leads this social audit process.
